Courses and Events

Alpha

We will be running an Alpha Youth course - anyone is free to join! Alpha Youth creates a space for young people to have meaningful conversations about life, faith & purpose. Each session is made up of different elements, and it’s a space for you to explore faith on your own terms. No matter your background or beliefs, you’re invited!

 - Get to know each other, normally over food and games.
 - Hear about a different topic of faith each week.
 - Chat about what you think! You can say anything you like, or nothing at all.

We will start on Sunday 14th January, 6pm until 7:30 pm, at Beulah Baptist Church. The course will be running on the following dates:

  • 14th January
  • 28th January
  • 11th February
  • 25th February
  • 10th March
  • 24th March
  • 14th April
  • 28th April

Please contact the office if you would like to book your space, however, don't feel that you cannot just turn up, that will be OK too!

You can take a look at the full Church Calendar for more information on all that's going on.

A bit more detail about Alpha Youth:

What is Alpha Youth?
Alpha Youth is a series of interactive sessions designed to start an open and honest conversation around some of the big questions of life. Topics at Alpha Youth include: Who is Jesus, why did he die, how do I read the Bible, how do I pray, how is the Holy Spirit, and does God heal today? Alpha Youth runs all across the UK, in schools, homes, youth ministries, prisons, and online. No two Alpha Youths will look exactly the same but they typically have the same three main elements; eat food / play a game, watch a talk, and discuss.

Who is it for?
Alpha Youth was created for teenagers and young adults.

Do I have to keep going each week?
No! Alpha Youth is a space for you to explore faith on your terms. There’s no pressure, no follow up, and no charge.

What happens at Alpha Youth?
An Alpha Youth session can run anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. When people arrive or log on, they are welcomed into a friendly and safe environment. Alpha Youth always starts with some time of connection, usually around food (it can be a full meal, a packet of pizza shapes, and even just a hot milo and bickie). If food isn't an option, you can start with a game to get people feeling comfortable. After that, they watch one of the Alpha Youth episodes together. Each episode centres around a particular topic and includes discussion breaks throughout where the young people are encouraged to share what they think. During the discussion breaks, everyone's opinion is heard and there is nothing that can’t be asked. Alpha Youth isn't about winning arguments. It’s about listening and loving people.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Welcome

If you're planning to visit us on a Sunday morning, here is some useful information so you know what to expect.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details below) for our Sunday Service starting at 10.00 am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving a little early to ensure you can park locally (check the different restrictions on the roadside) and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you will be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

After the service you are welcome to join us for a hot or cold drink and a biscuit, this is completely free of charge and is a great way to informally meet a few of our members.

Plan your journey:

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are accessible toilets available too.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.00 am with a warm welcome from one of our team. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our band. We typically have 2 or 3 songs lasting approximately 10 minutes. At this point, the children and youth normally leave and go to their groups.

Then, a person will often pray out loud or read a small passage from the bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. At some point during the service, we will share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible-based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final worship song or two and often there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for children of all ages:

  • Creche (Pre-school)
  • Sunday Club (Reception to Year 6)
  • Zone (School Year 7 -11)
  • Young people (for ages 16+)

Children stay with their parent or carer at the start of the service for the welcome and worship. The service leader will clearly announce when it is time for the children and young people to go out to their groups.  If your child has not attended the group before, you will need to go with your children to register them as part of our child safety policy.

The children's activities vary depending on the age but usually, there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Connect Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small home groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. If you'd like to join a home group, get in touch with the church office and we can put you in touch with a group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If once you have visited a few times, you want to get more involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team. Please talk to Pastor David or one of the Elders about the opportunities that are available.
